A Run-in with Roba Bread

Today’s post is a continuation of The Unsettling Nagoro Scarecrows; read it here!

When we heard the soft voices of children singing, all of us tensed and began looking around, eyes wide, before laughing at ourselves. “We’ve overstayed our welcome!” we laughed. Nevertheless, we set off back over the bridge to the car. It was on the bridge that we saw a white truck come around a corner on the main road. It had speakers attached to the roof; that’s where the music was coming from! It kind of reminded us of an ice cream truck. Some of us danced a bit, and as the truck drew closer, we saw that the driver was dancing too. There was also a red donkey sticker attached to the side. Thoroughly confused, we watched as he drove into the parking lot where our car was, parked, got out, and lifted up his truck to expose… bread?!

Even MORE confused, we walked over. He had matcha, matcha chocolate, strawberry and peach with jam in the middle, chocolate, donuts, and more!

He explained that back in the old days, people used to sell steamed, vitamin bread from a cart pulled by a donkey. Eventually, the donkey was replaced with a truck, but the name (and the song) didn’t change. I bought a piece of strawberry jam bread, and Hunter got custard bread. The bread was soft, light, fluffy, and tasty. This guy made our day!
